Privacy Policy

Overview

RouteShelf keeps your saved places and routes on a shelf, ready to start in the map app you already use. This policy explains how your data is handled. In short: your places, routes, and notes stay on your device.

Data Collection

RouteShelf does not collect, store, or transmit your places, routes, or personal notes to our servers. There are no accounts. Everything you save is stored locally on your device.

If you delete the app without a backup, your data is removed with it.

iCloud Backup (Optional)

You can turn on iCloud backup in Settings. When enabled, your data is backed up to your own private iCloud storage, managed by Apple. We cannot read or access it. You can turn the backup off or delete it anytime from within the app.

Location

RouteShelf asks for location permission only when you use a current-location feature — for example adding your current position as a place, or starting a route from where you are. Your location is never tracked in the background and never leaves the flow you started.

You can manage access anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.

Maps, Search & Time Estimates

Address search, map display, and travel-time estimates use Apple Maps services on your device. These requests are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy terms.

Starting a Route in Another App

When you start a route, RouteShelf hands the stop coordinates to the map app you choose (such as Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Yandex). From that moment, that app's own privacy policy applies. RouteShelf sends nothing anywhere else.

Sharing

Share files are created only when you choose to share a place or route. They contain the coordinates and stop order; place names are optional, and personal notes are excluded by default. Files are shared directly from your device — there is no server and no link that we could see.

Anonymous Usage Analytics

To improve the app, RouteShelf measures anonymous feature usage and technical error types using TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. These signals never include your places, coordinates, addresses, route names, or notes. Identifiers are anonymized; there is no advertising and no cross-app tracking.

Subscriptions

Premium purchases are processed by Apple via the App Store. Subscription status is managed by RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous identifier and entitlement status only — no personal information is shared.

You can manage or cancel a subscription anytime from iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

Children's Privacy

RouteShelf is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
